Chelton Terrace was originally constructed in the late 1930's and was used as housing for ship workers just prior to it becoming public housing. The complete three-phase modernization covers approximately eight (8) acres and the Phase I portion is now complete. The demolition of (Phase 1) 71 existing vacant apartments between Chelton Ave., Masters, and Seventh Streets have been replaced with 68 two, three and four bedroom, two story rental housing units. The existing units were approximately 47 years old. This first portion of the redevelopment included a new Community Center. This project also included 2 single story units designed specifically for the handicapped.
The Townhouse type units were constructed In a colonial style construction that included a combination of brick and vinyl siding facades, rear attached storage sheds, fenced rear yard areas, rear patios, central air conditioning, garbage disposals, and large interior closets. The surrounding ground area will feature all new streets, sidewalks, curbs, and landscaping throughout.
Arline, LLC is grateful again to be a part of re-developing this area of the City. We can all be proud of these homes that will provide a greater standard of living for the residents of Camden who are fortunate enough to be a part of this project.
